2020 – what can we say, it’s been a very unusual year for everyone, like nothing we have experienced before. Us included.
The year started with a bang with a lot of new equipment being put on the gym floor for our members which was fantastic. The buzz and atmosphere around the gym in January is always fantastic, so many people working on common goals is great to see. Our unexpected closure in March due to Covid-19 put a dampener on the start of the year. But even in the darkness there is some light, we donated PPE gear to St Martha’s nursing home in Cahir to help them get through that difficult time and we brought in even more new equipment so that when we open back up our members would have the best equipment to work with.
The reopening went great, the support from all our members was absolutely outstanding, everyone stuck very closely to the Covid guidelines making the gym a very safe place and we can’t thank them enough for that.
In September modified spin classes came back on our new Johnny G spin bikes and we got local man John Quirke in training for his initiative ‘Caring for Cahir’ where he cycled 8.5km and ran 5km in just his slippers to raise money for helping mandy and the Cahir day care center, but just as everything seemed to be getting back to normal, only to be hit with another lockdown at the end of October. It was a long 6 weeks but when we reopened the response once again was amazing, everyone came back, ready to train and once again did a spectacular job adhering to all the cleaning and sanitizing guidelines put across.
It’s been an up and down year but from everyone here at Xtreme CSC we want to thank everyone for their continued support.
